Thoughtful spfx for a shoestring budget. In a distant future scarce of water, space pirates get caught after stealing ice from a spaceship. When the jokes do land, they land well. The premise is pretty straight forward for a science fiction movie: in a far-flung galaxy water has become the most hard to come by commodity and a big, evil. The slight film tries some witless smart-aleck jokes, fails in its intention to be campy and crudely settles for being a low-level goofy spoof of Star Wars. "The Ice Pirates" The time is the distant future, where by far the most precious commodity in the galaxy is water.
